A collaboration with Claire Lefebvre, presented by Winter Wild festival.

Somatic Soundwalks

Groups are led along specially created routes that highlight the sonic richness and variety of the environment. There will be prompts along the way to explore different ways of listening and moving through space.

Our surroundings are constantly telling stories of their evolution, cultures and futures through sound. Using our whole bodies to listen closely, we can begin to hear the songs, whispers and warnings of the Land we are guests on…

Artist in Residence - Winter Wild ‘21

Supported by The Development Lab, Arts Inc Gallery and Winter Wild festival.

Studies in listening. An experiment in sculpture, sound & perception - an impression of “non-cochlear” sound art proposed by Seth Kim-Cohen in the book “In The Blink of an Ear” - which instead of fixation with the audible, leaps across sever outer and inner senses.

The Pointillist Ensemble:

An interactive sound art ensemble

The Pointillist Ensemble is a collaboration between visual artist Joel Boardman and composer Zoltan Fecso, where audio-visual technology is used to initiate public participation and sound making.

The ensemble performs as an open group of musicians and non-musicians who explore improvisation, sound spatialisation and sonic interpretation via graphic/text based scores.

The project aims to create an accessible space to explore sound and stimulate non-verbal connection, while using technology to find new possibilities for visual and sonic interaction.

This project was formed in 2019 as part of Lebowski’s Dev Res series VIII. The DEV(elopment) RES(idency) program is an initiative from Lebowskis, designed and presented in the spirit of fostering creative growth in new and established groups and individual artists.

Over 3 performances, the Pointillist Ensemble explored different kinds of audio-visual interactions:

1. Sound responding to Vision - August 25th
2. Vision responding to Sound - October 13th
3. Feedback Loop - December 22th

1. Sound responding to Vision
Projections are interpreted as a graphic score by The Ensemble.

2. Vision responding to Sound
The Ensemble performs a text-based score.
Projections react to sound.

A Worthless Object:

Sound installation

An empty cassette shell, tape removed, amplified.

In response to the sculptural works of Stephania Leigh, titled Ich Piersi, Moje Piersi (Their Breasts, My Breasts). The exhibition problematizes the lack of recorded and shared knowledge of testimonies of sexual violence from the Holocaust and wartime in general, and continues Leigh’s investigation into what it means to be a Jewish Australian Polish Female Artist, and how her Jewish female body mourns the experiences of her ancestors.
